Rome, 2 April 2025

Making people curious about the unknown. This is the secret of success for palaeoanthropologist and science populariser, Alberto Angela, who gives La Freccia a sneak peek at the contents of a new season of Ulisse - Il piacere della scoperta. And he talks about the connecting role the train has played in his life - from his first solo trips to Interrail with friends - and in the nation's history. A fundamental role that goes back a long way, and is renewed every day.

This month’s issue of La Freccia suggests an itinerary through four towns, between Arezzo and Perugia, to discover Piero della Francesca and Donatello’s masterpieces. And another itinerary in the L'Aquila area of the Abruzzo and Molise National Reserve, to unplug while following the Marsican bear trails. Or in south-eastern Sicily, following the Ibleo Trail, surrounded by dry stone walls and baroque churches. With the train, you can also reach major events taking place around the country, such as the Salone del Mobile in Milan and the Rome Masters, with Frecciarossa as the Official Train.

Travelling is a necessity to fulfil ourselves, change, and discover our inner being and other people’s - explains Matteo Nucci, one of the jurors of the literary competition organized by the FS Group with the Turin Book Fair, and aimed at first-time writers. The author advises them to get involved, work hard and have self-confidence. Commitment and enthusiasm also drive the talents of the Guardia di Finanza Skiing Group, which in 2025 celebrates 100 years of history studded with successes, trophies and Olympic medals.

There are also interviews with leading figures from the world of cinema and music, such as Luca Zingaretti - who makes his directorial début with La casa degli sguardi - in theatres from April - and DJ and producer Gabry Ponte - ready to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest and have the public dance at the San Siro Dance, in June, with Frecciarossa as the Official Train. And then Sarah Toscano, the youngest singer at the last Sanremo Festival, who is working on a new album ahead of her October's live shows.

Finally, the month’s cultural events. In Rome, Palazzo Bonaparte is hosting a monographic exhibit on Norwegian painter Edvard Munch, while in Naples another exhibit celebrates singer-songwriter Pino Daniele ten years after his death. Near Turin, La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre - where millenarian masterpieces are recovered and returned to the community - turns 20.

All this and more in April’s La Freccia, available in digital format on FS Italiane, and in take-away print magazine on Trenitalia Frecce trains, in the FRECCIALounge and in FRECCIAClubs.
