The project envisages the construction of a new Command and Control Apparatus in the Tortona station, work on the infrastructure for connection with the Terzo Valico dei Giovi and the quadrupling of the Tortona-Voghera section at some 16 kilometres alongside the existing route. These interventions will allow a separation of traffic flows between the Turin/Alessandria-Piacenza connections and the Milan-Genoa connections, ensuring a reduction of interference in the systems and a simultaneous increase in capacity.
