Connection with the Orio al Serio Airport

Connection with the Orio al Serio Airport

This project envisages the construction of a new railway link between the Orio al Serio Airport and the national railway network, via a dual track extending about 5 kilometres overall.

The future station serving the airport, planned to be level and serviced by four tracks, shall be connected via an underground “finger” directly to the airport.

Once fully operational, the connection will offer a train to the airport every 10 minutes, with journey times of 10 minutes for Bergamo and 60 minutes for Milan.

Vera Fiorani was appointed Extraordinary Governmental Commissioner for completion of the works.

Advantages

  • The extension of certain services from Bergamo to the Orio al Serio Airport, which will lead to an increase in the catchment area for both the railway system and airport due to greater intermodality.
60 km/h maximum speed
