FS International took part in the mission led by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in Vietnam. Now in its third edition, the Ambrosetti Forum High Level Dialogue on ASEAN-Italy Economic Relations was held in Hanoi on 5 and 6 June 2019, with the presence of the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister Conte.

Amongst the numerous important projects were those of: Valerio De Molli, Managing Partner and CEO of The European House - Ambrosetti, Enrico Letta, President of the Associazione Italy-ASEAN; Stefano Cao, CEO of SAIPEM; Fabrizio Palermo, CEO and Director General of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and Ramesh Subramaniam, General Manager for South East Asia of the Asian Development Bank.

Throughout his speech, President Conti made mention of the study conducted by FS Italiane (FS International) for the Vietnamese railways as a first step towards cooperation in the development of the country’s infrastructure.

In the presence of the top management of VNR - Vietnam National Railways, on 6 June, Carlo Maria Ferro, President of ICE, officially handed over FS International’s “Technical Assistance Study for Organisational and Managerial Development of Vietnam National Railways” to the Vietnamese authorities, led by the Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong.

The feasibility study, worth around 200,000 euro, was greatly appreciated by Deputy Minister Dong and is preparatory to a second phase of training on railway themes that specifically represent the result of the analyses effectuated. Moreover, the training activity would anticipate the formulation of a third phase regarding an infrastructural operation in the railway and harbour sector.

To this end, plans have been assessed that would involve various players of the Italian infrastructural chain, already present in the country or with concrete interests to enter the market. The initiative could be supported via export credit in respect of which SACE and CDP have expressed their utmost interest.
