The first training course for Indonesian Railways concludes

23 July 2019

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Indonesian Railways) on training and projects aimed at the transfer of railway know-how, FS International organised an asset management course for 29 PT KAI managers from 8 to 19 July 2019 at the Scuola Professionale RFI (RFI’s professional school) in Bologna.

So as to give a vision of integrated mobility, various FS Italiane Group managers were involved in the teaching process, including ones from Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, Metropark and Grandi Stazioni Rail.

These meetings represent the first step in a training programme that is to include the provision of:

  • a second training module, again dealing with asset management (for other PT KAI managers and employees) in November 2019;
  • a course on high speed trains in June 2020;
  • a placement programme at FS Italiane Group companies;
  • a coaching plan by FS Italiane managers who will undertake temporary assignments at Indonesian Railways.

The urgency felt by the Indonesian government to rapidly acquire cutting-edge technological and professional capacity has in part been prompted by the start of the implementation phase of the first high-speed train line linking the capital Jakarta and the country’s second city, Bandung.
