Busitalia: five new buses for Tuscany

Destined for the extra-urban public transport service

Five new buses have been added to the Busitalia Sita Nord fleet, the FS Italiane group company which deals with road transport.

Unveiled today in San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI) by the Regional Director of Tuscany of Busitalia - Sita Nord, Stefano Bonora, City Mayor Massimiliano Pescini and Regional Councillor Vincenzo Ceccarelli, the new 12-metre-long Setra S415 vehicles, with 49 seats and room for 27 standing and equipped to transport people with reduced mobility, will be put into operation on extra-urban transport services.

In replacing older buses, they will significantly lower the average age of vehicles in circulation.

The 5 new Setra S415s, with an investment value of around 1 million euros, were purchased with a 40% contribution from the Tuscany Region.

They are part of a lot of 25 buses dedicated to Tuscany extra-urban services, and will be used on the Florence-Siena route and the Chianti and Mugello lines.

With their Busitalia livery, coordinated with Trenitalia regional passenger service fleet trains, the new suburban service buses comply with company fleet renewal policies. High safety standards, maximum comfort levels for both customers and drivers and environmental benefits in line with Euro 6 class standards for the reduction to a minimum of harmful emissions and consumption. Furthermore, reduced mobility passenger accessibility has been improved with an electro-hydraulic platform.

The Busitalia fleet renewal plan for Tuscany began in 2014 and continues. The 25 buses will be added to the 33 purchased over the past few years.
