He graduated in Economics and Commerce.

Certified Auditor.

He began his career as auditor at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell Co. in January 1983 then with KPMG, where he became a partner in 1998.

He joined Ferrovie dello Stato at the end of this same year and in mid-2000 was appointed as Director of Administration, Finance and Auditing in newly-established Trenitalia SpA.

In 2006 he moved to Parent Company FS SpA to head the Planning and Control Department before becoming manager of the Administration and Budget Department within the main Administration, Budget and Tax Divisionin January 2008, where he became manager directly under the CEO at the end of July 2013.

Lastly, he was confirmed as Manager Responsible for drawing up corporate accounting documents for 2014-2016 by the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane SpA Board of Directors on 20 June 2014.

He has held - and still holds - various posts as Board Member and Auditor in various companies, including the following:

  • Board Member for Netinera Deutschland GmbH (German Parent Company for around 40 subsidiaries operating in regional rail transport throughout Germany controlled by FS S.p.A.), Tunnel Euralpin Lyon Turin Sas, a company established in February 2015 further to an Italian - French inter - government agreement, Centostazioni S.p.A., European railways and Eurofer (national capitalisation-based pension fund for Rail company employees);
  • Member of the Surveillance Panel for the OIC (Organismo Italiano di Contabilità - Italian Accounts Board - which is the national standard setter for accounting principles pursuant to Italian Law 116/2014);
  • Certified Auditor for Eurofima SA (Switzerland-based international holding company owned by leading transport companies).

He became Vice President of ANDAF - Associazione Nazionale Direttori Amministrativi e Finanziari [National Association of Administration and Finance Directors] - since May 2009, with over 1,800 members represented by CFOs from Italian companies and groups.

He is also corporate lecturer for the “CFO Master’s Degree” organised by ANDAF and Pisa University for the last seven years, as well as speaker at conventions and conferences on accounting, finance, corporate law and company management on behalf of this association and other leading organisations.
