UIC Global Rail Freight Conference to be held in Genoa on 26 – 28 June
The main topic of the 2018 GRFC is Modal Integration at the service of Global Distribution
The international railway organisation UIC, together with Italian Railways Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, are jointly organizing the 6th Global Rail Freight Conference to be held on 26 – 28 June in Genoa. In fact, Genoa is historically one of the most important ports on the Mediterranean, and is currently the busiest in Italy.
The main conference topic of the 2018 edition is Modal Integration at the service of Global Distribution. Various speakers will show off the political and economic sectors’ perspectives, along with other stakeholders in the rail freight logistics chain, including freight operators, ports and shipping lines.
The conference will be held on 27 and 28 June and officially opened by CEO FS Italiane Renato Mazzoncini, followed by UIC Director-General Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Deputy Mayor of Genoa in charge of Mobility and Public Transport Stefano Balleari and Giovanni Toti President of the Region Liguria.
High-level representatives of the European Commission, the World Bank, OTIF, UNECE, Port of Genoa and Savona Authority, Mercitalia, SUM4All of the World Bank, CCTT as well as many actors representing the railways, the logistics, the shippers and customers will take the floor during the various sessions and round tables.
As follows the main issues to be debated: mega trends in global logistics; the race towards sustainability; sustainable finance; globalisation, innovation and connectivity; rail freight corridor developments and the new Rail Silk Roads; Integrity of the logistics chain.
