Solidarity in the train stations

The Help Centers are the first major solidarity project launched by the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, in collaboration with local authorities and NGO's, to combat the social problems encountered in Italian train stations.

These are "low threshold" information points - i.e. without any filtering of users - located inside or around railway stations, which direct persons in need towards the city's social services (day centres, therapeutic communities, specialised associations) with the aim of rehabilitating them and reinserting them into society.

The Help Center model offers persons in need a concrete alternative to living in the station and the prospect of chronic social exclusion.

To create the Help Centers, the FS Group provides rooms inside or near to the station, on loan for use, to associations and authorities engaged in combating social marginalisation and exclusion.

At this time, there are 17 Help Centers in Italy which provide a genuine network of support in combating social problems.

A Help Center in Luxembourg

Opened in Luxembourg on, the Help Center in the Central Station, thanks to the collaboration between the railway companies of 12 European countries which adhere to the Charter of solidarity promoted by the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

The speakers at the inauguration included the President of the Luxembourg Railways Jeannot Waringo; the Mayor of the city,Lydie Polfer; the Luxembourg Minister of Family and Integration, Corinne Cahen, and the Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch.

Representing the Railways which adhere to the "Charter" was Co-president Fabrizio Torella of the FS Italiane.

The Help Center, symbolically called "Para-Chute" (parachute), was created on the premises of the Luxembourg Railways in partnership with the Help Center of the Trieste Railway Station, the next one to be opened.
